I have gotten several calls from 202-558-5607 indicating they are the IRS and that I need to pay them $ for outstanding tax bill. They know my name and obviously my cell phone number and know that I have an outstanding tax bill. HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT? They also indicate that a lawsuit is being filed against me and I could go to jail if I don't pay them. that is not right. Please stop them. The phone number is all of the info I know. I don't know their name or anything. thx.

I received a voicemail message on my cell phone claiming to be from the IRS. The message went on to say that I was going to be prosecuted for tax penalties and I was asked to call 202-558-2598. I know the IRS does not call individuals concerning the issue described.

automated message with a reference to the IRS, stating that the IRS is preparing to file a lawsuit against you then leaves a number for you to call, all calls come from a wireless caller or cell phone. When I called back I asked who they were still claiming to be the IRS I told him that the IRS would not call and I again asked who they were. He then hung up. Later we got another call from a different number with the same message so my husband called them back, he also asked who they were and claimed to be the IRS, he told them that they were not, the man said he was and if he did not cooperate with him he had agents that would come to the house to arrest him, he wanted to know my husbands name. At that time my husband told him that he should already have his info and told them to go ahead and send them. Third call came this morning with the same message and a different cell phone # I have not returned the call yet and if you would like to return that call the # is 7856725548.
