While trying to get help from the CANNON Printer Support group to resolve a software issue with my printer I was informed by them that they could not assist me until a virus was removed from my new Dell PC. The virus was call packet sniffer. They transferred me to IGEEKSONLINELLC because Best Buy's Geek Squad was not available for immediate support. IGEEKS said they could fix the problem and went into my PC because they needed to react immediately to save my PC. They loaded on a new Fire Wall software called Web Root and stated that the cost for the new software was $200.00 and their support was $263.00. I immediately complained that they were overcharging for software and that they were giving a kickback to Cannon for them transferring me to IGEEKS. They immediately reduced the price to $100.00 for the software in which I then became suspicious. They then said a check was okay to send them at the address provided. I then called some PC experienced family and friends who came to my house, removed the Web Root software, installed windows defender and said that I was lucky they did not compromise my banking and personal files. I did not send any money in the form of a check. I contacted the Columbus ScamPulse.com and filed. I was contacted yesterday by IGEEKS and I told them not to call me because I was complaining that they were a scam group that scared old computer users into thinking they needed something they did not need. I also was disappointed with Cannon Printer Support who gets a $63.00 kickback for transferring customers to IGEEKS. Apparently this has happened to another person but the transfer was from HP Printer Support. I blame myself for being manipulated and it was a lesson learned. Groups like this should be stopped. They are just on the edge of being unlawful. I will not pay for the services IGEEKS rendered and I had a family professional remove all their work and scanned my computer to make sure nothing was compromised.
