Salespeople from "Green Power Network" (GPN) are going door to door - they claim that our property taxes are funding their door to door efforts to locate homeowners that are impacted by senate bill 350 - when asked if they are selling anything they state they are absolutely not selling anything, and that they are also not there to generate any initial leads for solar and other utilities salespeople to follow up with. They talk in riddles and in circles to make it as confusing as possible stating that they are being sent door to door by state bill 350, and they are just trying to identify people who have been impacted by higher utility costs and just need to see my utility bills. My local council office Katy Yaroslavsky, and my State Senator Maria Durazo have both been notified of their deceptive door to door practices.

Green Power Network keeps sending young people to our doorstep asking to speak with the homeowner who is my 88 year old father. Always arriving around 5pm, they show up wearing a blue vest with reflective yellow stripes over a light colored polo shirt. They are always holding a clipboard and on display clipped on top of it is always a sample of a local energy bill statement similar to the one we receive monthly in the mail. They never voluntarily introduce themselves as a representatives of an independent energy broker, instead they always open with "We're in the area helping people in the neighborhood" then ask me to show them the 3rd page of my energy bill so they can explain the savings they can help us gain. Without explicitly saying they are representatives of my current energy provider they clearly are exploiting the possibility that they will be mistake as an official representative. Sometimes they're polite and give up quickly but other times they are persistent and continue to try to persuade me to show them our energy bill and are "willing to wait as long as necessary for me to retrieve them." Their delivery always feels suspicious as they can never clearly delineate how and why they can offer a savings, so I never show them an energy bill or any other documentation. Most conspicuously, they never have a business card or flyer to leave either. The last time they came I angrily demanded a business name and business card, instead the young guy hand wrote a first name "Paul," a local phone number "(818) 400-2324," and a company website "greenpn.com" on a blue post-it note. I had to use harsh language with that last guy as he was very persistent and had an increasingly condescending manipulative tone, he sounded like he was reciting newly learned grifting techniques. He was accompanied by another clipboard carrying young man dressed in the same smock and similar polo shirt, but he stayed further away and looked as though he was observing or supervising "Paul."
