Type of a scam Debt Collections
I received a bill ($15.00) from this organization Family Dermatology PC for as co-pay regarding a visit to their office. I never went to this place of business mainly because I live in New Jersey and the office operates out of Georgia. The letter I received on October 11, 2016 stated that this was my final notice and if I did not respond my account would be forwarded to a collection agency. I never received an original or secondary notice in the mail about this situation. I called the number (404) 631-6879 and was put on hold for 16 minutes and then referred to voice mail where I left a message and phone number. I waited all afternoon for a response and did not receive one. I later called again (Oct 11) and a recording said their lines were busy and to call back. On Wednesday, October 12, at 9:05am and 9:10am I called again and received a message that their lines were overwhelmed with calls and that I should call back later.This whole process reflects the same pattern that appeared on internet sites about Dermatology scams in the Northeast U.S. The letter asked for me to pay by credit card the $15.00 they requested. The letter was official and had a box for credit card information to be recorded.The scams are originating out of Georgia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. This sounds like a fishing scam but it is using the U.S. mail to operate. Recently, searching the internet, I found that there are many scams involving Dermatology services and I believe this is one. I do not want to be placed in a collection agency situation for something I did not purchase. I would appreciate any assistance or advice. Thank you
