Fake Publisher's Clearing House call Reports & Reviews (1)

- Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA • May 19, 2025

Scammer called a total of 4 times. First two times I missed the calls, and no voice mail was left either. Since the first call was on a Sunday afternoon and the 2nd call was at 8:47am Monday morning, I thought it might be an old customer calling to report a death. I used to work in the death industry, so I called back but only got their voice mail. I left a message. The 3rd call came later that morning and I answered. They caller claimed to be the General Manager of Publisher's Clearing House, Bill Cooper, and he has been trying to reach me because PCH was going to deliver an award of $8,000,000 to my house today at 1:30am. He wanted to verify my name. He mentioned a name that was my first name, but my sister's last name. I told him that was not my name, so he asked if this was the right address and stated my address. I told him that was correct. He asked me how old I was, and I told him my age. He didn't believe that was my age and said I sounded as if I was much younger. He asked for my birthdate, and I didn't give it to him, but he said he had it and stated my birth year. He was correct, so I said that must make me the age I quoted. He asked me why I was giving him a hard time, and I told him I think this is a scam and that I live in FL where there is a lot of fraud! He said he was not scamming me and that, he stated who he was and who he was with. I told him his caller ID didn't come up as a business, but a personal number and the name attached to that number was not Bill Cooper. He asked me what the name was, but I didn't tell him. I told him I called him back and if he got my message. He said "No, I didn't get your message, and I didn't see a missed call from you". He asked to speak with my husband, (he used his name), and I told him he was outside. He insisted on speaking with my husband and I told him no. He asked why I wouldn't let my husband talk to him. I told him he would get confused. He asked if he was older and I said yes. Again, he didn't believe that I was my age and asked me what I would do with $8,000,000. I told him I would die peacefully. He said, "this woman is too much" and he hung up. About two minutes later, he called back again, insisting on speaking with my husband. I told him no three times. Then I concluded with "we will see you at 1:30pm" and hung up. He hasn't called back since.
