The mortgage company Newrez is sending out notifications that homeowners insurance is expired. If I do not send them updated proof of insurance, they will force me to buy their insurance at $1,900. A website on the letter was not reachable, 404 error. I reached the mortgage company and they stated they called my insurance agent and left a message. I have USAA, there is no agent and no way to leave a message. I asked what number they called and they could give me an answer. When speaking to someone at USAA insurance, they assured me that it is not possible to leave a message and no one called about my policy. I believe this company is intentionally not collecting insurance information in escrow in order to scam people into automatically paying for their overpriced insurance.
