Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

Our son walked in to purchase an engagement ring. Laura showed his diamonds and settings. She was lovely sharing personal stories. Our son told her he wanted to bring his parents back on Sunday. Although she was going to be closed, she agreed to meet us there. We looked at the diamonds and the GIA certificates, just something didn't seem right. We went home and checked her Google reviews, red flags. The next day, unbeknownst to Laura we went back with a gemologist/appraiser. Laura was her helpful self and took everything out. Unfortunately, the certificates did not match the diamonds that she showed us, nor were they diamonds! When she was asked why they did not match she said that she must have mixed them up. We are so thankful that we took the extra step.
