A person by the name of "Ava Leclair" reached out to me via email stating she found my profile on the job site Indeed. She said my profile was impressive and included the details for a job posting (client co-ordinator) that was supposedly available at "Maple Systems", including the day to day responsibilities, company perks, pay rate, etc. I've been desperate to find a new job and not did the job appeal to me on all fronts, I've been approached via email by other companies before so it didn't strike me as suspicious in the beginning. I had a partial Zoom meeting with someone by the name of "Lori/Lorie" who is apparently the Ava characters assistant, I did briefly see her face but we ended up finishing our conversation over the phone as we had connection issues. I signed an employment contract shortly after the call and was set to start the following week on 05/16/25. Ava had me sign up for a crypto platform, explaining the companies reasoning for using that currency with clients, she also sent me some instructional videos to watch as well. My start date came and went, I signed into the hours tracking platform and didn't hear from Ava or the other person, until the following Tuesday- it was a long weekend so I brushed it off. When I finally heard from Ava she told me she's off on weekends, which to me I feel I should've been made aware of considering the date I was set to start. Anyways Tuesday, 05/20/25 came and Ava told me she was going to arrange for a company transfer of funds to my account in order for me to start carrying out my tasks with crypto. I was expecting the e-transfer to come from a designated company email/account but it came from what seems like a regular person. I didn't question anything as I felt maybe they're a newer company and don't have everything set up yet, or perhaps that's what they prefer. I was instructed to purchase BTC on the platform she had me sign up on, with $760 out of the $770 I received and to send it to a specific wallet address. The first one didn't work so she sent another, which she claimed was my "work wallet address". This is the only transaction I made, I haven't heard from this Ava person since, despite my attempts to reach out via Telegram, the phone number listed on the website (always gets answered by an AI/voicemail), as well as email- which is what has lead me to reporting her/this company as I've recently read about a scam called being a "money mule". I will continue to reach out for the next few days to see if I can figure out what exactly is going on, but I do truly believe I was just dragged into being a money mule given the definition of the scam + what I just experienced.

I have been searching for a job on indeed, applying to dozens each day

One day I receieve an email from Ava Leclair regarding a customer relations position.

I accept the job and work for 3 full days.

End of the third day, Ava my boss claimed the business had accidentally sent me $2975.50 and needed me to send it back

I explained I'd didn't recieve any money and she was insisting I had it. She refused to send any proof of this money being deposited.

Within minutes, Ava became very angry and rude, repeatedly calling me names and threatening to call the police. When I said go ahead and I want to talk to them, she disappeared
