Type of a scam Online Purchase

I attempted to purchase an item via the ELC Hardware website. The website looked very legitimate and professional. I added an item to my cart and entered all my credit card information. I never received a confirmation email so I checked my credit card to see if I was charged and indeed I had been, through a third party account with the name "THISISWHYIMBROKE". I never received my product and reported the incident to my credit card company and they acknowledged that it was a scam and immediately shut down the card.

I purchased an item that I had been looking for on familiar online retailers but was sold out. ELC Hardware.com claimed to have the item and at a better price. I purchased it on 10/30/21 but never received a confirmation of my purchase. I tried calling them but the phone number is busy, and the website says that "due to COVID-19, we have disconnected our phones". The site says to email them, but the email never goes through. I called my credit card company who was initially not very helpful because they said "it isn't fraud if I willingly made the purchase", and they suggested a file a dispute with support.stripe.com, the payment gateway which is not possible as a consumer/individual. The charge was not put through as ELC Hardware but instead as ThisIsWhyIAmBroke which was listed as a restaurant in California. I am hoping that my credit card company will dispute the charge once it is posted to my account.

ordered a drill press on july 27 2021. never got the product or confirmation email. when i called the number on the website its always busy. the charge appeared on my credit card as a charge to a casino in alabama. had to cancel my credit card . SCAM!

Site operates as an online tool retailer. Credit card information submitted is then used at Golden Nugget casino. Fraudulent site is also using physical address of a legitimate and unrelated hardware establishment.

This website looks legit, but is fake. They will take your money, but send no confirmation email, no products, and it's impossible to contact them. They claim to be a real business in Bell, Florida; if you call the business located at that address on Google Maps, they know about ELC Hardware and also claim they are fake. They do not respond to emails, and do not accept calls. The credit card account recipient provided by my bank is for a business called 'Golden Nugget', and if you call that number, you'll get an angry rural gentleman claiming to know nothing about this scam.

Be warned, stay away.
