After applying online for a remote proofreading job interview and being hired, this employer sends a check in email to be deposited in my checking account for remote office equipment. All notifications were through Teams app or email. I never talked to a real person. I contacted my local BBB. Luckily, I caught it early. ScamPulse.com told me the scam is their check will eventually bounce. My money for purchases would go into their bank account along with my banking information. Research all companies first before applying online.
