A rep with a thick foreign accent called me saying he was with DISH TV and stated that they needed to update my DISH account, or something like that. I was instructed to turn on my TV and hit the "menu" button 2x. He then asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN, which I did. I was then to call him back and ask for "Michael Jordan". I did not call back. A second such call came in a day later, this time by a woman with a thick "oriental" accent. I hung up on her.

On 3/21/17 at 8:30 P.M. received a call from phony Dish Technical Support that my Dish Receiver needed to be up-graded so that rain and snow and other inclement weather would not interfere with the picture. Asked for all pertinent information regarding my account, name phone #, e-mail address, address and last 4 numbers of my SS#, which I rattled off without thinking because they had woke me up and as soon as I realized what I had done, I told them that this was a scam phone call , too late probably and told them that I practiced witchcraft and they were in trouble. They hung up and I immediately called the real Dish customer assistance and was told Dish tech. support never calls customers . My account was flagged and I was given the phone #'s of Transunion and Equifax to notify. I was caught off guard because I had dozed off watching TV, no excuse, and I should have known calls at that hour of the night are phony. Wanted other Dish customers to be aware that we are being targeted. I have no complaint with my Dish service. Scammers did not take money and I have not lost money so far, but am probably going to have trouble fromthis phone call.

We got a call that said to upgrade equipment we need to pay a $170 deposit and in 6 months we would get it back. We called Dish and they said that was not a legitimate call from the company and that we already had upgraded equipment.
