This scam is masking as a student internship program to be an online executive personal assistant. It targets students in high school and or in college. It says under the description, "US Agency is offering to assist all Students financially. This opportunity will serve as a means to help pay expenses, save, or pay debts..." The job is said to be part time and online only with a salary of $300/weekly. The google form attachment was sent through an email from the district from a relative who works with the district. This relative is an older woman who may have mistakenly got spam mail thinking it was real, not too sure on the details of the email that sent this google form. The form asks for simple information but near the end it does ask for your bank name. I filled out the information and got sent a follow up text a few hours after. I then proceeded to do a follow up interview through text giving examples of my skills in the work field. I believe a day later I was told my tasks and duties are to track and disburse each charity organizations fundamental contribution on behalf of the Feed The Children Organization. It was told to me that this is a monetary donation and that I would need to handle this part where I cash checks given and send them to any charity or town they have me send it to. I deposited two checks given with my name and address in $400 amounts. I ended up doing two transactions but ultimately stopped after the second one. I expressed that I was uncomfortable with being responsible with handling money that did not belong to me and cut contact after sending the $400 back. I ended up having to refund both $400 disbursements back to the bank and ultimately got scammed $800 of my money since the bank could not find the account that initially sent me those $400 checks. I called my bank and tried to resolve this issue. I put a claim on both transaction but in the end they were not able to do anything about it. The google form for the internship is still up, so I am hoping no one else falls victim to this scam, especially since students are the ones being targeted and taken advantage of. This was an unfortunate event that occurred but it was a hard lesson I had to learn.
