Craigslist "for rent" condo ad pulled an hour after I applied. "Melissa" wanted my credit report, ID, and $100 "booking fee", all of which I provided. Then she wanted my friend's credit report as a "reference" because (she claimed) someone rented from her and didn't pay so she was being "safe." Called herself a "qualified landlord" but wouldn't further clarify. Also used different names for the PayPal payment (Ner Lorenzo, Amanda Coleman, and "husband" Akili Trice Rony.) Scammer is Melissa Daniels, 707-741-4329, [email protected]. DO NOT GIVE HER YOUR INFO OR MONEY.

Person impersonated a landlord asking for personal information regarding a credit check. When information was provided via TransUnion website, scammer denied that the credit check provided was valid as their scam url was not used.

While searching for housing in Boston two different Craigslist ads reached out to me. They (possibly the same person or organization) used a sequence of different numbers to text me as if I had speaking to the wrong person or a different person before, and asked for me to pay $1 refundable to get my credit score via freescoreclick.com. It was suspicious when I even offered my bank statements or something from annualcreditreport.com as proof instead and they wouldn’t not give me a straight answer as to why they wanted that site specifically. I have read mixed things about freescoreclick.com including that it keeps charging you even after you “unsubscribe” so I didn’t trust it in the first place.
