College Prep Tutors - Impostor. A person named "Louis" called to offer a ACT/SAT prep software. He said it would be mailed. He knew my son's name and where we lived. He said if we kept the software over 30 days, we would be charged $249.95. He asked for a credit card for a soft charge. I told him i was not comfortable giving that info over the phone and the man hung up.

I was stupid and agreed to pay these losers their $250 so they would go away (we did receive some pile of discs in the mail I think, #obsolete!) But they continue to try and charge me $79.95 EVERY MONTH for NOTHING! The name on my statement is Academic ENRL. I have called, left my name and number but no one calls me back. I have already had to get a new credit card once but for some reason, they were allowed to try and charge the $79.95 against my NEW card!

Received unsolicited call requesting payment of approximately $250 for "test prep materials" that the caller stated my son had ordered. Individual identified themselves as "Frank Kramer." The scammer knew my son had recently taken the SAT, knew my name and my son's name, our address and asked me for my email address. The local number that showed up on the caller ID was (253) 588-8950 (automatically hangs up when called back) and then (888) 612-0489 showed up as the number associated with the charge on my credit card. Research has revealed that this was a scam call.

"Owen Golde" called from a local 360-293-7843 (name on caller id was Victor Schultz) when called back number is out of order. Owen said my kid had filled out an online form to get testing material for the SATS. They were going to mail out the material and the cds once the 30 days is up I have to return the cds or would be charged $249. Bank blocked the original charge and I took the time to have them allow it. I asked him the company name again. He told be College prep, affiliated with college board. org. phone number 888-540-0374 for student services if my kid needs help with anything. Can take the practice test as many times as they need and someone from student services would go over it with them. Gave me a confirmation # or R9564724. and said I would get an email. which i did not. tried to call the college prep 888-540-0347 multiple time. Message says they are only open from 10am -4pm PST and to leave a message they will call back No One answers

Caller said they were calling re: SAT prep materials that were requested by my son. They had his name and school. They wanted to send out a CD of prep material. They said they needed a credit card to be used as incidentals (in case my son did not return with 20 days of using borrowed materials). Ok, I gave them my number. They said my card was declined. That's strange I said. Next second I received a fraud alert text from my bank sighting a charge from. After the charge, received a "Do not reply" text that said, if we have questions to call the (888) 540-0374. The text was from a number (909) 968-4041. If you call, a voice mail answers (woman's voice) asking to leave a message. The person said his name was Carson Simon. Needless to say, I called credit card and the fee was in pending mode.

I received a call 1/22/2024 from Brad Murphy from College Prep Tutors. He called on my cell phone, knew my name and my daughter's name. He said they were sending college prep information for the ACT and sending information out - software and related books, etc. He needed to collect $250 first to be able to send out the supplies/software/textbooks that need to be returned within 30 days and then the fee would be returned. He said once that the supplies were received my daughter could call M-F 12-6pm Eastern time for tutoring support. Sounded very legitimate....but you have no report on them and I can't find much more info out there. They also don't list an address on its website.

Caller had no accent. He had my address, my son’s name and school. He also knew that he was wanting to take the SATs. He seemed genuine and believable. I needed to give him a credit card number for collateral. I would be sent cds for college prep. In 30 days I would need to return the cds in the envelope provided and my card wouldn’t be charged. I was charged instantly. Called my bank and had my card blocked so no further charges would occur. I now have to file a fraud claim.

Called to say my grandson who is a senior in high school requested some test prep materials. The materials were free but we would be charged if not returned. We received the materials, then returned because my grandson said he never requested and didn't need them anyways. That was back in April 2023. First charge was then i called and they said it was the fee for the materials but would be refunded once they received the materials back. Never got the refund. I just saw a charge on October 24th for $99.93 from the same company. I looked back and saw that i was also charged on September 24th. I called the number on the bank statement but no answer. I left a message. The original number they called me from was 1-877-371-2709

Person called stating our daughter checked off that she want SAT prep DVD's. Stating we would pay a deposit of 249.95 and get the money back once the training materials were returned. - the person took the card number and and provided a confirmation number. Got suspicious and looked up on line could not find the company and typed in phone number provided and SCAM Alert came up. Called the number all you get is a VMX saying they are busy. The person on VMX did not sound crediable.

I got a call from College Perp saying that my daughter requested S.A.T. material and they were going to send CDs . They needed a deposit of $249 and will be reimbursed when the CDs are returned. They charged my card and never sent anything and never returned the money.

It is all over the internet that this is a scam , and im a sucker and fell for it . ...

I received a call on May 2nd regarding my son's college prep status. They came across as if this was mandatory for my son to take. They offered a "packet" that included two dvd's. They said if we want to keep the DVD's, they are $219.84. They said we can return the DVD's within 30 days and get a refund and keep the other information. Upon receiving the "packet" nothing was in there except the DVD's. I did not open the DVD's and quickly mailed it back. I called to tell them it was mailed back and asked for confirmation of reimbursement and they said they could not send an email confirmation and I will see it on the credit card. No reimbursement ever came so we disputed the charge, cancelled my credit card and got a new one. They fought the charge and it was put back my new card. I called them back and gave them the tracking number of the return package and they said it would be taken care of in two business days. 4 days alter and it has not been taken care of. I called every day and every hour during their business hours and the call just goes straight to voice mail. I left a dozen messages during 2 days and they have not called back once or reversed the charge.

College Preparation (or numerous other names), calls you and mentions your daughter (or son), has requested study material for upcoming ACT course. The say the disks are $214 but there is a 30 day free trial and if not satisfied you can return immediately for a full refund. We did exactly that. Unfortunately what they do after that is the fraud. They will then charge your credit card $69.95 per month after that for online access (that we never signed up for or used). Unfortunately for me, I did not realize this until four months into it. I called the company and told them I never signed up and they said I would receive a refund.....which I did for only one month. When calling to get the refund for the other three months, they hang up on you. I tried disputing with credit card company, but was unsuccessful. I am still working through that with them. Please be aware and never give your credit card to anyone who calls you.....ever!
