I received the following text (cold): "Hi Name, this is Alexis from CNFI USA. I see that you recently requested a loan for 140000. I was able to get you pre-approved. Do you have a few minutes to discuss the next steps? You can also reach us at (844) 669-3623. Text End to opt out".

Followed by: "Hi Name. CNFI USA here. Just checking in to see if you received my previous message. Is now a better time to give you a call?"

After researching "CNFI USA," it seems it's some kind of fake bank; their website looks like an Apple product template. A search of the phone number they claimed to use returned a ScamPulse.com listing for another person who received a similar text.

I received a text from a number 40158 and the message read:

"Hi NAME, this is Alexis from CNFI USA. I see that you recently requested a loan for 70000. I was able to get you pre-approved. Do you have a few mins to discuss next steps? You can also reach us on (844) 699-3623.

And then received a follow up text:

"Hi Name, CNFI USA here. Just checking in to see if you received my previous message. Is now a better time to give you a call?"

I keep getting texts from the number (000) 004-0158 from CNFI USA:

Received a text from someone named Alexis from CNFI USA. This person stated that they were from CNFI USA and noticed I'd requested a loan of 50000; they also stated that they had managed to get me pre-approved. Asked me to call them at (844) 699-3623 to discuss further. The last line of the text was to type "End" to opt out. I responded with "End" and received a text confirming that I'd been unsubscribed. I was also told I could resubscribe by texting "START". The actual "from" info was actually the number 40158

This same number also text a second time later on to see if I received the first text.

I received a text from “40158”. (This is the number recorded on my phone ID, which makes me think it’s a bot.)

The message read:

“ Hi Lawrence, this is Alexis from CNFI USA. I see that you recently requested a loan for 40000. I was able to get you pre-approved. Do you have a few mins to discuss next steps? You can also reach us on (844) 699-3623.

Text End to opt out”

I went online to investigate who this company is, since I was curious as to whether someone had perhaps used my identity to apply for a loan. However, through ScamPulse.com and other sources, I saw almost the exact same language that was texted to me reported as a scam – including the name “Alexis.“
