I called to have my gas fireplace cleaned out and looked at. The man who came to my house spent about a total of 15-20 min and only adjusted the flame slightly. There was absolutely no cleaning done to my fireplace. When I asked if he could vacuum the dusty interior, he said he didn’t have the right size of vacuum and I would either have to pay him more money or do it myself. When I told him that the person who cleaned our fireplace many years ago had vacuumed the entire fireplace out, he said, “why is he not standing here today and I am?” I paid the total that he stated, although I had a bad feeling about this service. When I received a text message with a supposed “invoice,” which was not even itemized, I noticed that he had been using three different company names. The name on his shirt (the one I was told to list on my check) was “Chimney Squad,” the company listed in the text message was “Chimney Sweep,” and the company listed on the invoice was “The Chimney Pros.” I’m sure this is a scam service, and they have likely changed their name due to bad reviews for their lack of service and extremely high rates for doing next to nothing. People should be aware.
