Chase Bank Imposter - Account Hack Reports & Reviews (1)

- Pleasant Hill, CA, USA

I received a text that a change had been made to my account (when I had not initiated any) and discovered that a scammer had changed the password to my account. I called Chase and reset the password and removed the scammer's phone number and email from my account. However, we didn't notice that the scammer changed the alerts to go to them instead of me.

The next day, my password was changed again, so I went to a branch and changed my username and password. By then, I discovered that the scammer had put their email address and phone number on the alerts, so I made sure they were removed. I also added more security to the account.

The scammer called me pretending to be from Chase Fraud Prevention, but I missed the call (thank God) and got a voicemail instead. The message stated that it was important that I call Chase Fraud as soon as possible at 1-877-691-8086 option 2. This number is not associated with Chase so I did not call back.

In addition to the above, I think the scammer signed me up for several hundred online accounts to fill my email so that I would miss any email from Chase. I got hundreds of emails requesting that I confirm setting up an account and many where the account was set up without needing a confirmation.
