Went to carinfostory to get detailed information on the past experience of my car prior to ownership, essentially a cheaper carfax. Purchased for $1 and $4.99 on one of their options. Wasn’t as advertised and quickly wrote it off as a sham. A month later I find that they charged my account three times in less than a month with each transaction being $29.95. Absolutely no way of contacting them, not even a website or email anymore, I canceled and opted out of the subscription before this as well.

- Denton, TX, USA

Charged 29.5 for a $1 service and initial price

- Manhattan Beach, CA, USA

I paid for a one dollar trial subscription via PayPal, and then they asked for more billing info… And I quickly tried to cancel. I never got a report. It saved all my billing info and charged me again for a second report. I called customer service to make sure the subscription was canceled, and spoke with someone in another country who was not particularly helpful and said they could cancel the subscription, but not refund the money. Fortunately I was able to cancel the ongoing subscription through PayPal.

- Falls Church, VA, USA

They have my debit card information and are charging me without my authorization after initially collecting my details for a $1 charge.

- Bella Vista, AR, USA

29.95 charged 6 times

- Mansfield, OH, USA

Website claimed to give a car history by providing the VIN number for one dollar. It did not say that a recurring charge of $29.95 would take place 30 days after and continue every thirty days. When I noticed this recurring charge, I went to cancel it but couldn't because I was not signed up as a subscriber nor did I have a membership account to log into. It was basically just stealing money and I had to close my debit card account and reopen a new one.

- Socorro, NM, USA

I was under the assumption I could order 1 report and pay $1, I didn’t read the fine print. I was charged 2 different times for 1 report. Laterly I automatically get subscribed to their service and charged $29.95 a month via paypal, and I don't even know how to unsubscribe it.

- Sauk Centre, MN, USA

The scammers advertise the false website called carinfostory.com, offering to give you vehicle history information for just $1.00 then you can cancel the subscription anytime. Once you enter your payment information they automatically set you up for an automatic $29.95 monthly payment that can’t be cancelled. Also in the meantine they steal your credit card information and use it to make purchases. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE!!

- Round Rock, TX, USA

You call the support line and if you ask for any refund , call get disconnected.

- Raleigh, NC, USA

Carinfostory is a website which charges you $1 for your car report which leads to monthly $30 charges which I didn't signup for.

Luckily for me I used the apple card cash which doesn’t have amount greater than $10 in it as I don't use it for anything!

- Ashland, WI, USA

The original site was taken down. Did not show an agreement for subscription services. I want a refund.

- Clarksville, TN, USA

I registered with carinfostory.com to receieve one report about a vehicle at the alleged listed price of $30.00. Carinfostory.com continual ly attempts to draw $217.00 per month from my bank account and I have now had to replace my debit card three times!

- Saint George, UT, USA

I attempted to get vin # of my vehicle and paid $1 for report. Now they are charging me $29.95 for something I never requested. The website is no longer available and I’m unable to contact.

- Dearborn, MI, USA

Like everyone else made a $1 purchase for VIN lookup. Then got charged reoccurring charge of $29.95. Fraudulent and scammers. Criminals should be stopped. Carinfostory.com is their business name.

called up and canceled the account. the number I called was 833.235.3899 The number now has changed to 877.642.4336. It's funny because my June to August 2024 bank statement reflects the change. We'll see if the bank is sharp enough to catch it. A lot of 800 numbers can be used from overseas as well. They cross-connect to a U.S. number. Yep, I know this firsthand from years ago!

Searching for a site to check a VIN for a used car, I found this site. I paid the $1, and canceled the trial subscription immediately. I used Apple Cash. Now the company keeps charging $29.95 for a subscription I canceled. I emailed 3 different addresses ([email protected] and [email protected] both did not work) and was told from "Jack Kenny" to click the link on my Welcome email (which I already did to cancel and had since deleted the email) or call 18776424336 or 2027514073. The 877 automated number asks if you wish to cancel then instructs you to enter the first 6 numbers of your credit card. Since I paid with Apple Cash, I did not have that info, so the line disconnected without providing me with a person to discuss this with. The second number has been shut off by Verizon. Please do something about this. I will dispute the charge to Apple when I am allowed to---I have to wait a week after it posts apparently. But this is a scam and this website needs to be discontinued and the owner charged with fraudulent business practices across interstate lines.

Ran a one time VIN check on used vehicle for .99 cents and canceled any memebership attempts at the time. I was charged $29 every month for the last 4 months without consent and with no good or service provided.

Uses a site to sign up for VIN number checks with an opening 1 dollar charge. Automatically sets you up for a subscription and claims you can cancel anytime. Attempt to cancel and it will keep withdrawing from account with promise of refund but does not. Have to cancel card account to stop withdrawal
