I live in Williamsville and received a phone call asking me "Can you hear me?" I did say ya ,then he started to say "You have won..." and I immediately hung up. I realized this was the phone scam as soon as he said "You have won..." and I remembered hearing about the "Can you hear me" question.

on 2/6/17 at 11:02 am I received a phone call from above number - the caller stated "my name is Jeff....can you hear me?" I unfortunately, instinctively answered yes, then remembering reading something about this being some sort of scam/attempt at identity theft? I immediately hung up the phone ending the call. Now I am terrified of what may happen. I should not be afraid to answer my phone.

Caller acted as if they had dropped the phone then asked, "can you hear me." My husband wasn't aware of this scam. Turns our it's not the first time it happened to him. We've had many messages on our answering machine with this type of message. Oh, the call was received today, Feb 6 at 1:54 pm Eastern Time. I'm answering no to Did the victim lose money, because so far I don't believe that is the case.
