- Cincinnati, OH, USA

I received a phone call from someone claiming to represent QuickBooks. He claimed that I needed to pay a fee to be able to continue to use our Quick Books program, that we would not be able to use it in the next couple days if it were not paid. The fee was for the "License Key". He claimed the card they had on file was not good. He had so much information already, I believed it to be legit. He sent a form for Credit Card authorization which I filled out on line, while he waiting on line to see that it went through. I thought it strange that he told me not to clear the boxes identifying what type of card we were using. It had all types of credit cards checked. After following through I felt very uncomfortable about it so I checked with QuickBooks and they said this was a scam and something not necessary for us to do. I called the number back that was given to me by this "QB Care LLC" , the person who answered did not even identify the business by saying the name of the business when picking up the phone, he verified who I had talked to and when he gave his name, oddly it was the same last name as the original caller. After I told him I wanted the charge refunded immediately and an email confirming they were doing so. I then called our bank right away and told them I thought we were scammed. They told me we can dispute the charge. I tried calling the number back given to me from the "scammer" , he claimed the person I spoke to originally was on the line with another customer. I told this person I wanted the charges refunded immediately also. He said he could see that I called and requested this. This person said they would follow through on that request. He said my money should be refunded back to our credit card in 3 to 4 days. I told him I wanted an email confirming the charge would be refunded. No email was sent. I called back a 3rd time after waiting to see if I would receive an email, this time it was another person, telling me the person I wanted to talk to was still with a customer. 4th time I tried to call it immediately went to music playing and I held the line for about 10 minutes and no one ever picked up. The 5th time I called the original contact person was supposedly still on a call with a customer. I had requested for him to call me back. No call back and it has been hours.
