Type of a scam Government Grant

The specific company contacted me by phone. I had just filled out an application for the loan forgiveness program online for my student loans about two weeks ago. they went into my account on my loan forgiveness Department of Education website. They told me they needed the pin that was sent to my phone in order to help me. I gave them the number that came over my phone. At this point, I realized that something was wrong because they had changed my password when I ask them what they change the password for they said it was because I hadn't logged in in 45 days and I need a new password they gave me my new username and password I continue to talk to them for 45 min. they verified all my information. including my Social Security number, my home address my credit card information my phone number. They told me that I did qualify for the loan forgiveness through the Department of Education but I had to finish the application. They told me that I would have to pay six payments of $175 and then I would have the rest of my loan forgiven I did give them my credit card information. they then made me sign a contract stating the dates the money would be taken out for the next six months of $175. They gave me a phone number and a contact person as well as a reference number for my case. The person also told me to make sure that anytime I talk to anybody and they didn't know my case number I should not talk to them when I called back to cancel as I realized I was scammed. They connected me to the person that completed my application when I told him why I wanted to cancel. He told me he would be willing to help me then he hung up on me. At this point I knew for sure I was scammed.
