In February 2024 I wanted to buy a house from Dewayne Martin that he has in Seguin, Texas. The address is 630 East Ireland St, Seguin TX 78155. I submitted my documents to the bank, bank approved me for $227,000 because Dewayne promised the house will be very nice, everything new, well built. I gave the down payment to Dewayne $11,350 The house is old. First built in 1911, in the house were no interior walls, no floor, nothing but exterior walls and roof. Dewayne promised to finish the house by March 2024, we signed contract. The house was not finished by March, he moved closing date to April 2024, the house was not finished , he moved the closing date to May, then to June, then to July, then to August. During this time I found out information about Dewayne Martin that he was scamming people for money. I got scared, I said I don’t want to buy the house, please give me my down payment back. He said if I will sue him he will make mi life miserable.
Before to do any business with Dewayne Martin just check his criminal record. You will be surprised. Because he looks like nice person it’s doesn’t mean he is a good person.

I signed an agreement and paid ($12K) for home improvement. Work was to start on 6/28/21. After nine weeks only 3 of 28 projects were completed. A record of purchased materials was not reviewed with me.

To prepare for work to be done, Mr. Martin rented a storage unit where I started having my household goods moved. I recently completely transferred the unit to be in my name only. The transfer was from someone named Deborah to me. This was just another sign that things were awry. I pray nothing is missing.

Mr. Martin goes by Barry Martin, Dewayne Martin, Duane Martin and Barry D. Martin. He claims residence in Castroville, Hondo, Bandera and Medina.

He and I met on Match.com in April 2021. He lured me to have confidence in him and his home improvement business. I am extremely embarrassed by this situation and sure I'm not the first. After the agreement we no longer 'dated' and contact waned as time passed. The work he was doing was of poorer and poorer quality.

I can get copies of cashed checks and pictures of work done/not done to validate this scam report. After having gone through this experience, I believe Mr. Martin used dating sites to lure women into his scam trap.

Mr. Martin revealed that he was partial heir to $243M (his mother's estate, Marion Diane Mitchella). He claimed that grieving and trying to dispute the Will (which specifically excluded him as an heir of the estate) was consuming his time such that he couldn't work on my house. Then he revealed he had other home improvement jobs to work.
