I googled changing my name on my passport after recently getting married and clicked on the website without verifying the address. The branding looks very similar to all the government websites it is pretending to be. I put in all of my information and then it asked me to pay $296 which I knew could not be correct. I realized what had happened and closed out before paying. I am unsure if the goal is to steal information, money, or both.

Hi

I typed in google, renew application for Passport and filled out information and added a photo and etc and when I got an email later saying the documents are on way to my house it said then I need to email the documents to the government and pay $160 additional, I then realized the 3rd party is scamming people with this site to process applications that are free of cost.

Please respond at your convenience, I just emailed the support line for the particular website. I also let my credit card company know to flag charges, I hope do not process.
