Amtrak Spoof Reports & Reviews (3)

In April 2025 I booked various components of a trip. I googled Amtrak to book a trip on their website. I was routed to a fake Amtrak and booked the trip. I saw a few red flags, like the "attentiveness" of the agent, insistence that I alert them when I was on the train, the step where they asked me to send in an email that I give them permission to charge my credit card. And later when I noticed more red flags I saw that the charge didn't have the typical Amtrak logo or name and was generically "RESERVATION." We got on the wrong train and actual Amtrak had to charge us for the new tickets. Actual Amtrak said they refunded the missed tickets. I asked them for the card number. It did NOT match my card. I asked them for the card name, and it had components of my name, but it wasn't me. When I checked me bank, there was no credit from RESERVATION, the fake Amtrak. When I called the fake Amtrak, I said why has the credit not been applied. They told me, "dispute the charge with your bank." I told them Amtrak refunded fake Amtrak for the missed train rides. They still refused to refund me for the money that they received from real Amtrak.

Then I also noticed, that the official Amtrak logo doesn't appear in the communications with fake Amtrak. Fake scam Amtrak uses the generic "reservation" in their email address, charge to my credit card and email signature; thus not alarms were blaring to scream FRAUD SCAM.
FAKE Amtrak Reservation Scam

- Bridgewater, NJ, USA • Mar 19, 2025

I tried to Google amtrak customer service number and somehow the scammer's number showed up and without realizing it, I dialed. Someone with a very heavy Indian accent spoke to me. They were super unprofessional, and I had thought Amtrak outsourced their reservation to India. Until I asked them to add another adult to my reservation, they first couldn't find my reservation which should've been a big red flag. Then they found it, told me the price to add an extra passenger, which agreed to the price I see Amtrak's website. Then they asked for my name, the passenger's name and DOB then took my credit card number, expiration date and 3 digit code. Then sent me an email asking me to click on the link to authorize the payment. I've ridden Amtrak many times before and this has never happened that's when I start thinking this whole thing was a scam. I hung up on them, locked my credit card. They even tried to call me back but I did not pick up. I also asked them multiple times why am I not seeing Amtrak logo on your emails, the reply was that they are a 3rd party company that does online reservations. Total scam.

I called that number they a third party affiliate of amtrak i bought a round trip ticket from philly to newark for 172 dollars i hade to cancel cause the women couldnt make it. I called for a refund the scond time i called the man told me thryvputcin for a refund but my card i first used wasnt staying in the computer so i gaveva another card to be refunded on Nd they said wait 3 to 5 business days . Today i see they chardecme 99 dollars not refunded me 172 then they hung up on me
