Type of a scam: Debt Collections

My son received a letter from AMS on today 12/11/2023 stating he has a warrant for his arrest for a traffic violation in Village of Pine Prarie,La. The violation amount is $1150.50!
This is unheard of! He hasn’t been to pine prairie in years! I called Pine Prairie PD and they have no record of this violation at al! So this is definitely a SCAM!

Received the same type of letter

We received the same type of letter above, it was for my brother in law. For a fine in LA. No dates or anything. I would have almost believed this except my brother in law hasn’t been to Louisiana for over 10 years and he has been deceased for the past 4 years. This was very hurtful to my husband seeing his brothers name in this letter threatening him with a court case fines and arrest. So sad that we have such scammers.

We received a letter stating an outstanding warrant in another state (Town of Livingston, LA) existed and included a citation number. The letter states must pay the amount requested, $321.75, and urges "to take advantage of this opportunity" to have the arrest warrant recalled. Letter requests to pay online or mail check to Town of Livingston, LA, PO Box 118312, Carrollton, TX 75011-8312.

The addressee on the letter includes only part of a family member's name. Thinking a name should be correct on a citation, we were suspicious. We called the Town of Livingston, LA courthouse and no record of a citation for the targeted family member exists, according to the clerk we spoke with on the phone.

I called the number on the letter to report no citation exists. They have called my phone back several times since trying to collect the money. We think this is a scam and have not paid any money.
