They will then say you need a check to buy “office supplies” where they will attempt to scam you.

Oh, plus they use generic emails so be weary.

They will text you with a job offer from Careerbuilder, then make you login with Microsoft Teams, then they will ask for personal information before asking for bank details. Once they get your bank details they withdraw $2000 and ghost you. Do not accept messages from them and report them from whatever website they operate on.

Using Microsoft Teams to message about a job offer but using message/text only format. After was supposed to get a "start up check" for office equipment like previous report, probably for the purpose of getting bank info since there's literally no reason why you'd be getting that much money handed to you basically for free.

Type of a scam: Fake Check/Money Order

I was messaged via iMessage about a job offer, the interview process was on my teams(message only) and I was to complete a questionnaire. After completion I was emailed the offer letter stating I was to receive a “start up check” to buy office equipment. That’s when I knew for sure new it was a scam
