- Hamilton, KS, USA • Mar 20, 2026

Received a fake check although at first glance it looks like a real one. At the bottom it says. "This is not a check". Record number listed on it is GGN12NLGL It says it is supposed to be an allocated waiver for the sum of $195.00. Not afflicted with our lender.

- Bellingham, WA, USA • Jan 15, 2026

Requesting to call immediately and that it will be final attempt.

Same as above, just a phone number and using a bank name that my mortgage company bought out years ago.

- Jacksonville, FL, USA • May 14, 2025

I received a mailer that included information about the lender from which I bought my home. It claimed to be a Final Notice and demanded an immediate response. It provided a 10-digit record ID and included something that looked like an unsigned check titled "Allocated Waiver" for $199.00. In small print at the bottom, there was a statement that said "Not all consumers have previous coverage." and stated it was not affiliated with my lender. It also, of course, stated "This is not a check." This annoyed me because it was clearly not communication from a company that I have a business relationship with at all and the lack of any business name made it seem not even a legitimate advertisement. I called the 1-888-901-8190 number on the mailer and demanded to know the name of the company. The first man I spoke with asked me if I was "all right" and if I didn't have anything better to do before hanging up on me. I called back and played along and the second man gave the business name as "Reliant Home Warranty" and began a spiel about how other homeowners in my area were facing plumbing and electrical bills that weren't covered. But he was not happy when I started asking why they were sending out mail that looks like something official when we had no prior business relationship. He then claimed they were the only home warranty company operating in my area (not true obviously). The conversation got heated and he also hung up on me. While my patience is too thin to play along with these folks to find out exactly what they were expecting me to do, I feel like this definitely falls into the potential scam category.

I received this letter claiming to be a FINAL NOTICE. It included the name of my lender and my home address. It also included a fake check for $199.00 listed as an “Allocated Waiver”. Happy to see them listed here, I did not call them or respond in any way

- Tallahassee, FL, USA • Apr 11, 2025

I received an "Official looking" letter, that resembled a government mailing, with the "Tear offs" on the side, etc, that read that it was referring to my property, at my actual address, and that my lender was First Commerce CU, that I needed to contact immediately (800-916-8689) and that this was a FINAL ATTEMPT to NOTIFY. It also had an attached "check" (not real), for $199.00 which in the amount block, read "ALLOCATED WAIVER". At the bottom of document it read "Not affiliated with First Commerce CU" and "This is not a check". Evidently State of FLorida allows this type of scam material, as it also had '" FL LIC #W302173". This is a scam and should not be allowed at all. Think of the elderly people that are opening this up and falling for it!! And possibly get caught giving away personal information, to a person at this phone number they gave. This is a scam and I have shredded it. Please find a way to outlaw this SCAM!!! It's more than dangerous -- it has potential to get personal identity info from unsuspecting people who have opened this piece of mail. This is MAIL FRAUD and a SCAM tactic!!

There is a check attached with a homeowner ID date and telephone number to call immediately after depositing the waiver check address to me with the home address also.

Received a letter one month after financing a vehicle from Carvana. The letter is addressed from "Motor Vehicle Services" but has no return address, nor website, only a toll-free number. It has my name and address, plus the exact make/model of my new vehicle. It is saying I have an "allocated waiver" that I need to discuss and has a fake check for $199.

Official-looking physical mail "immediate response requested" notice with enclosed check for $199 with blank signature line, stating "we reserve the right to revoke allocated waiver after 7 days of receiving this notice". Urged to "please call immediately".

also included Spanish-language phone number 866-482-0923

- Grand Rapids, MI, USA

- Norfolk, VA, USA

I received a "FINAL NOTICE" letter in the mail regarding my mortgaged property that I currently live in. It stated the following:

"This letter is to inform you about an important matter regarding the property at [my current property address] secured by your current lender which is [name of a previous mortgage lender]. We reserve the right to revoke allocated waiver after 7 days of receiving this notice. Please call IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU 888-467-3210."

The letter looked very official with hours of operation listed and that Spanish was spoken. Plus the letter included an official looking check referred to as an “Allocated Waiver” IAO $199.00. However, who it was from was unclear. At bottom it did say they were not affiliated with [name of my bank] which they said was my current mortgage lender and that the inclosed check was not a check!

- Wappingers Falls, NY, USA

Received FINAL NOTICE letter in the mail soon after closing on new home loan. The letter is addressed to my husband and I and names our mortgage lender. It has a notice date, contact phone number, and a home owner ID number. It says "This letter is to inform you about an important matter regarding [our property address] secured by your current lender [names our bank]. We reserve the right to revoke allocated waiver after 7 days of receiving this notice. Please call immediately as this will our final attempt to notify you." Then at the bottom there is what looks like a check with "allocated waiver" for $199.00, with our names and address on it and a signature line.

There is no name of any company, no address, no email contact. The postage on the envelope is prepaid under U.S. Postage Permit No. 1535 and says "mailed from zip code 33431."
