I contracted with Home Alliance (aka 5 Star Air, Air Duct Cleaning Los Angeles) to clean my air ducts and perform routine maintenance on our heater.
The heater technician came and was very nice, but he didn't do any maintenance. He only performed an inspection and provided pictures. he told us we need a new heater. He cleaned the heater filter and replaced it with a disposable filter that didn't fit. The heater was working when he left, but it emitted a foul smell. I replaced the ill fitting filter with the original one. two days later the heater stopped working.
The air duct cleaning was rescheduled multiple times by the company. Then the technician showed up on the wrong day. he had only a shop vac with him and no other equipment. he spent 20 minutes cleaning the metal cover over the intake. He said the air ducts don't need to be cleaned. I declined to have him clean our dryer vent because I had no confidence he knew what he was doing.
I called "Home Alliance" on two separate numbers I was given when I scheduled the appt. I was told the company's name was "5 Star Air", then I was told it was an umbrella company called "Home Alliance". then another number said the name of their company is "HVAC cleaning Los Angeles".
when I complained about the service the manager said the technician was only supposed to inspect the heater and air ducts and not perform maintenance, but that's not what their email confirmations said.
I think this company is a scam. I would not hire them if you paid me
