This number showed up as an unknown caller. I picked up and they said my name as well as my daughter’s name stating they were from College Board calling about study plans. They knew the exact date of my daughter’s SAT so i appropriately assumed they were legit. My daughter had recently mentioned a testing site to where the testing materials were free. This scammer stated that I could borrow $250 worth of study materials (flash drives to be exact) and return them when finished with the test. If they weren’t returned then they would charge me. We then hung up and he immediately took the money out of my account. No one can contact the phone number now it gets sent straight to voicemail.

The caller stated he was from College Board, my daughter had recently taken the ACT. He knew all of her identifiable information, he claimed she requested extra test prep materials. He told me they were free, and he continued to use high pressure sales tactics while repeating my daughters information. He was able to confuse me and he asked for a credit card, which he promised would only be charged if she didn't return the materials after 30 days. My card was charged immediately and I have been unable to make contact with the company to request a refund. Materials did show up at our house, but they were very poor quality and unusable. Mostly CDs, which my daughters computer does not even have a CD drive. I promptly returned the items to sender, and have yet to hear anything back from them. They are a fraudulent company that uses intimidation and lies to persuade victims to give them the financial information.
