My 92 year old mother-in-law received a letter from Global Financials. It was postmarked from Canada. The letter was from Florida, and the scam check was from a supposedly bank in Rhode Island. It stated that she had won $450,000. Winnings are payable by certified check, to be delivered from Fed Ex or UPS. Stated to contact Robert Harris at 1-800-745-0381. Enclosed was a check for $2,595.00, but a processing fee and insurance fee of $2000.00 will be required to claim the winnings. The letter stated not to act on the letter until calling the claims agent. Thank goodness that my mother-in-law mentioned it to us. She was ready to fall for this scam.

I received a Treasures Check for $2,595.90 saying I was a winner in the "North America Consumer Promotion Draw " organized for all customers of Wal-Mart, Sears, Home, Safeway etc. It said I won US $450,000.00/ I am to contact a Claim Agent...Robert Harris 1-800-745-0381. The check requires I send $2,000.00 as a processing fee and insurance fee before I get the lump sum can be sent to me.

I did not do anything else but read the letter. Ridiculous of course so I am reporting to you. The bottom of the letter is signed by

D. Williamson Vice President Finance.
