I called Google (when I searched for it online, I clicked it and a different number came up than what appeared on screen +1 (515) 212-3692), for an extension that was downloaded to my computer and I couldn’t get rid of it. He asked for my name, email, and zip code. I gave it to him and he said there were 4 bank accounts under my name and an Amazon account. The Amazon account was used to purchase a MacBook Pro and iPhone 13 for the total amount of $2198. I hung up because I did not want to continue the call as it all sounded sketchy. He called me back from a different number (+1 (253) 550-5966). After this, he told me I was a victim of identity theft and transferred me to the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC officer verified my is and asked for my name, address, DOB, and a series of questions regarding my ownership, if I’ve been out the country, my online habits, etc. She told me the FTC would look into it my situation and call me back if anything was suspicious.
