I accidentally called the wrong number trying to reach Amazon.ca. The number I dialed was one digit off, 1-877-856-3230, when I should have dialed, 1-800-586-3230. The person on the phone from 1-800-373-3411 pretended to be amazon and had me confirm my name, home address as well as my email address and read back my phone number (caller ID). They then gave me another number to call, 1-800-373-3411, and this is when I clued in that this was sketchy and began asking them direct questions like "is this amazon" but they avoided answering me and only directed me to call the number provided. I never did call it and I'll monitor all my accounts for fraud moving forward but this place was definitely up to no good. Hopefully I'll be okay but they do have more info of mine than I'd like them to have.
