Type of a scam Employment
"Hello {my name} , You've been selected for the next step in the Data Entry Representative/Administrative Assistant hiring process! Pay is $29.75/hr with flexible hours and paid training. Please download Microsoft Teams and message our Hiring Manager via [email protected] to proceed."
I followed up on Teams, and received a reply from a Ms. Sutima Jensen, allegedly with Zobrius Pharma, ASA ( I have saved all the chat log, dating from April 29, 2025 to May 07, 2025). Interviewed by answering 20 questions on Teams, then was told I was hired, with a requirement that I must reach out to the HR Manager, Ms. Jensen, every day at 8 am local time - actually they reached out to me first, every day between 6:45 and 7:30 am. Terms of 'employment' began to change ($18.95/hr to train, then $29.75/hr to work), and I was told I would be provided funds to purchase equipment through a vendor of the employer's choice, and that the employer would be opening a facility in a nearby town, at which time I would be able to choose to work on site as well - I declined, but was told to keep it in mind. In order to purchase the equipment and software, I was going to be sent a check by mail (!): funds to be used at a company-preferred vendor. After a few more days of 'stuff', and a request to do work before employment documents signed, I received the check (for over $5400) this morning (05/07/2025), drawn on a Korean bank (name withheld), and asked to send a scan to verify it, then told to drive to the bank, have the check deposited and send Ms. Jensen the receipt. I did not do so, but did confirm the check could be a fake.
