TSA Imposter - Passport Application Scam Reports & Reviews (2)

I went to what I thought was a government agency to get my passport. I paid $144.85 for my passport and passport card and expedited service. I waited for the email. All I got was the paper filled out (that I could have gotten for free from the post office) and instructions to bring this to the post office and pay the government fees. I called my bank right away but they said it can’t be disputed until it’s processed. They told me to contact the seller and gave me the number (786) 209-1728. That number had a recorded message to email them. That email [email protected] came back undeliverable.

I went to a website that looked very much like the government website for obtaining a passport form. I filled in the form, made payment, and submitted the form which was "approved" and returned within five minutes. There was no visible disclaimer that the fee charged was not for the passport fee. I also paid for "insurance" against lost and theft. After going to the post office they informed me that it was probably a scam. My credit card company maintains that it is a bonifide business which in fact delivered the product. They provided me with a telephone number to dispute the charge. It went immediately to voicemail but provided an email address. ([email protected])My gmail account delivered an incomplete delivery notice because the server " did not accept our request to connect" I replied to another email requesting contact and a refund. That email address is [email protected]. The credit card company assured me that my personal data was not compromised, but I'm not sure.
