Swallow Shipping has shut down their website. Be advised though, as they will open another one in a new name. When I find it, and I always do, I will post it here.

I am glad to have found this site and related information. As listed above, I had responded to an ad for a 1968 GTO for sale, unusually low price ($10K+ under reasonable value - $11,500 asking price) that was found in a Wisconsin Craigs List advertisement. After about 1 month, I received a response from a Stephen Mark Woods ([email protected]) who stated that he's been busy working 16+ hour days, overseas on an Oil Platform on contract. Contract ends November, but a new 2-year contract starts December, so he no longer needs the car. Recognizing the tell-tale signs of a scam (suspicions were already heightened by asking price), I decided to have some fun and ask for information that only the person possessing the car might have. The email responses are very well written, with proper grammar, but I noted some slight deviations in usage that had me wonder if this person was not a USA native. I'm sure I'm correct - likely British.

I received a second response talking about how well the car was maintained, and recently serviced, etc. He mentioned that the car was in Tacoma, WA at a shipping company because another buyer could not complete the purchase due to a death in the family. (convenient, wink) Next he told me the car's color, but it was light on description (I know the exact color of the car). I was then provided all sorts of information about the Swallow-Shipping.com company and the process one would use to complete the deal, including inspections and a three-day hold period (after purchase funds were wired to the Shipping Company (acting as escrow holder). He even offered to ship the car to anywhere in the USA to me at HIS cost. Very generous, don't you think?

I responded seeking a picture of the cowl data tag affixed to the car to get the build date and color code. He then responded that I should contact Lea Klausen using [email protected] email and mentioning his name so that they could access the contract and details. Uh-huh.

I performed a bit of research for this Swallow Shipping Company. There had been one, without the hyphen, that closed in 2000. This business was incorporated in 2011 and files documents yearly. The HQ is located in England. 4 Officers of the company are listed - one in England and three in...wait for it...Slovenia! I also looked at their online Balance Sheet submissions. For a shipping business, they show surprisingly few dollars in their documents. The address they list appears to be an building with a parking lot - no cars or signs of use yet neighboring buildings show cars/trucks and "life" (google maps).

There is ZERO question that this is a total scam. I will report them to the authorities.

Here is another car shipping/escrow scam outfit to be aware of. Its the same people the started ABL Shipping and shut it down. See my previous posts from ABL Shipping, Ziegler Freight, CTD Cargo, SAPA Auto Sales. Its all the same scammers. Just beware of this bunch and never wire money to a forigen bank.

I almost got scammed.
I’m glad I found this website myself.

Way too good to be true. Thanks so much. They used the same game on me and seen right through it…

Smart move. I will be posting more of these scams as I find them.

Here is another one. As soon as people get wise to them they shut down one site and open another. Prior to this site, they had ABL Shipping, Ziegler Freight, Hashi Freight, Nebula Freight, among others. I have pretened to be intrested in their online cars through oodle.com, that is where the post cars they don't have in order to bilk you out of money. The cars are usualy classic cars, and around $10,000 under market value. Once you make contact with these clowns, they will send you an email, usualy from a guy that is stuck on an oil platform and really has to sell the car beacuse he can't get way. So he claims he hired a shipping company to broker the deal for him. They will then have you register on their website, once complete, they will send you a fake bill of sale, with instructions as to where to wire the money. I have 6 of these with same documents, fake stamps, and signatures. I keep finding these cars and I use new email adresses to entice them in to thinking they are going to steal some money. I'm keeping all the documents I receive and will turn them over to the FBI. I doubt these fraudulent Shipping/Escrow companies are operating out of the United States, but they could be. The account they want the money wired to is HSBC Bank in UK. I sent HSBC an email in regards to this fraud, but I got no response. I guess they don't mind filtering stolen money.

As long as I keep finding these shipping scams, I will keep posting them.
