I ordered a camera lens from smartphotohut.com and found out after the fact that they are selling "gray market" items. They also charged my card five times for $199 each time. The day after I ordered the lens I received a call from the company asking if I wanted to add a warranty to my lens for an extra $30 and I was under the impression that I was ordering a lens that should already come with the Nikon 5 year warranty. A few months later, they called me and were trying to say that I got reimbursed too many times from my credit card company and asked if I give them permission to credit back to their account so they could get their money. They are a scam, do not buy from them.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

I searched around the internet to purchase a Nikon D750 (body only) and a lens. SmartPhotoHut.com had the best price. I reviewed the online store ad and made the order using Paypal. Steven / SmartPhotoHut.com called me to inform me that the Nikon D750 camera body ($1,395) and lens ($1,255) I purchased were European models and did not have a warranty. He informed me that the U.S. models were actually $1,896 each. He said shipping would be free and no sales tax.

Steven offered to upgrade my shipping from USPS to UPS, throw in a free protective UV lens and claimed his manager was listening and gave his/her approval to offer me the Cyber Monday price of $1,796 each.

When I told him I needed to check some things first be became increasingly pushy and stated that there were only two left in stock and asked if my problem was the money. I restated that there were things I needed to check before making a decision and he responded that he would be leaving the office in 5 minutes. When I attempted to cancel my order on their website it responded with my order ID not found. I contacted Paypal to cancel the transaction. I contacted Steven/SmartPhotoHut.com to cancel the order, he asked why? I explained that it appeared to me that it was a Bait & Switch tactic because the website did not state anywhere that they were European models and no warranties here in the U.S. He claimed that it was clearly stated and "Don't waste my time!" He finally canceled the order.
