I received an email from service@******.com to my personal email address saying there had been a suspicious activity to Gemini.com. I checked my ****** account via the official ****** app and there was no record of this so it was obviously fraudulent.

I received an email stating: "You have an invite from Payment Warning: A transaction of $924.48 to Gemini.com was detected.If this wasn’t you, please call (805) 500- 6859 to stop the payment. Protecting you from fraud is our priority." Closer scrutiny shows spacing errors and the usual marks of a scam, but it was sent from [email protected] which is the actual official email, which is what worried me. It was also sent to [email protected] which is not my email. I'm not sure how I received email I'm not the recipient of from the official Paypal email address.

Email received from PayPal addressed to [email protected] which isn’t the recipient’s address. Stated a transaction of $823.19 was detected and needed to call a number to stop the payment.

I received an e mail from [email protected] PayPal Payment Alert that said, " A transaction of $876.37 to Gemini.com was detected. If this wasn't you call ###-###-#### to stop the payment. Protecting you is our priority. invited you as a developer." The last sentence doesn't even make sense. I never heard of Gemini.com, neither did I make any purchase for $876.37.

Spam email sent to my corporate work email, and corporate Microsoft Defender account flagged the email as suspicious. I can only preview the subject and sender email in the quarantine page, but I saw "invoice" in the subject line and wanted to confirm I did not miss an invoice from a new vendor, and googled the business name. The top google search result confirmed it was a scam/phishing email. I almost second guessed the spam filter because it came from what looks like the official [email protected] email address.
