'Scotiabank' appeared on the home phone (land line) display so I answered. Asked it they could speak with Brenda Macleod. I had to correct their pronunciation. Stated that I needed to pay a minimum $10 towards my "Select Scotia Credit Card" as payment was due tomorrow and to avoid late fees. This didn't make sense since I always pay something towards my credit cards. And if by chance I forget .....well usually I have an automatic minimal payment debit set up. Anyhow I told the male person on the line I was not interested in paying anything over the phone and would call the Scotia Bank directly. I called and spoke with a Scotia Bank Representative who said my accounts were fine and that there were no payments overdue. I gave the Representative the number that had called me. She didn't recognize it as a Scotia Bank number and tried calling it twice. No answer. She felt that this was fraudulent call.
