Caller said that they could lend me money for a large debt that i owed (or a debt coming up) $7,000. (I am having a surgery in a month, but I have Medicare & insurance.)

I just said I did not have any debts.

And the caller said something’s about making a mistake and I hung up.

I have never received anything like this before!

- Mishawaka, IN, USA

Received a voicemail from 727-284-5354: "Hi, this is Amber calling regarding your Grandview Resort and RCI Account. You do have a few weeks that need to be used. Please give us a call at 407-309-3581. Thank you and have a great rest of your day." While we do have an RCI account and a timeshare home resort, the numbers called from and told to call in the message are NOT part of RCI or the named resort. RCI uses a points-based system and sends statements to your home letting you know how many you have and when they expire. RCI will, if you opt in for it, text messages about vacation opportunities and upcoming sales, send emails about vacation opportunities/sales, or even call you about upcoming specials and vacation opportunities; but they will never call you to remind you that you have weeks to use.

Has contacted me several times, via call/voice mail, to say they have a pending court case that is to be filed if I do not reach out immediately. I simply block each additional number but this is the first complaint I've filed.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Collins Community Credit Union fraud department. They asked me if I had made a purchase from Amazon in the amount of $640.29. My response was “No.” He asked me to verify the last 4 digits of my social security number, which I gave him. This person’s name was James Peter. After my response he then transferred me to another person named Mark Allen. For the remainder of the hour long phone call I spoke with this person. He reiterated what the previous person had said & proceeded to tell me these transactions were taking place in California. He then told me there were more attempted charges to my account & wanted to go over these as well. The next charge was to EBay for $386.92. I told them I did not attempt this transaction or the remaining 2; one to Netflix for $11.34 & the last one to Apple Pay for $1,050. This final transaction was split up into 3 smaller transactions; they are $300, $450, & $300. After each verification that I had not made those purchases I would be put on hold for approximately 1 minute while he had it deleted from my account. At one point he asked me to tell him the first 5 numbers of my social security number, I refused. He then asked me the answers to security questions I choose earlier in my business with the bank. I told him those answers. When he finished deleting the 4 transactions he said we needed to move onto my credit cards. At this point I mentioned it was an hour long call, my work hours had finished & I needed to drive home. I then told him I don’t have any credit cards & I told him he was scamming me. He denied the accusation, put me on hold & then disconnected the call. I immediately called my bank’s fraud department & told them to turn off my card. While on that call I ignored 3 separate calls, they are 636-243-9865, 607-444-6529, 818-506-9582. Within an hour there was a charge on my account for $471.96. I disputed this charge & it has been deposited back into my account. I feel I was dumb to not listen to my inner voice yelling “STOP” & also lucky to have my funds returned.

- Granger, IN, USA

Phone number is almost same as my medical supplies provider and I mistakenly dialed prefix 800 instead of the correct 855. Voice came on saying “can you hear me”. I said yes not knowing I had dialed the wrong number. Recording came on saying I qualify for free medical alert button. I pushed “0” to try to get live person still not knowing it was the wrong number and when it didn’t work I hung up. This number is a fraud and I am also worried about being scammed even though I did not give any information other than my voice saying “yes”. I am scared.
