He claimed to be an employee for Publisher’s Clearing House and said his name was Michael Collins. He told us that we won three million dollars and that due to COVID-19 they had to call before going to your residence. He had our address and first name. He gave us fake names of people who were allegedly going to come with him to our residence, but we looked up the names and saw that they were either historical figures’ names or actors and actresses names. My daughter called Publisher’s Clearing House’s customer service and looked up my account. It had showed that I hadn’t won anything yet.

Dave Sayer, badge no. d3824pch, from Publisher's Clearing House called today. He said I had won $2.5 million and a 2020 Mercedes Benz, free auto insurance for a year, and six months worth of Shell gas, $10,000 worth of Walmart gift cards, and $7,000 a week for life. He asked if I was married, widowed or single. I told him I was a widow. He said I would have to pay to register. He told me to go the bank and withdraw $3500. I told him I didn't have it, but I could get $1000. He told me to call them at 509-902-7088 when I get to the bank. He told me he would meet me. They've called twice since then. I'm 90. I went to my daughter's house and she helped me report it to BBB.

I first received the letter in the mail. It said in the letter to call them. I called them.

The person that I spoke to said his name was Steve. He told me that I won the sweepstakes. This included 6.5 million, and 4 Mercedes Benz.

He then asked for my banking information, I told him no. He then wanted me to go down and cancel all of my accounts and only bank at Bank of America.

He then gave me an account number and a name of a person in a specific town and state. I was then instructed to get a money gram. Your initial amount wired was $16,000. I borrowed this from my dad. Every pay period they are taking my disability social security. They've been taking money out of my account for 2 years in the amount of $900 to $2500 at a time. I would have to borrow money from my dad and my brothers.

We received an after hours through our ******* Plumbing answering service. Our dispatcher returned his call and he stated that he was the owner of a property in Holliday, TX and the tenant had a water leak under their kitchen sink. Our dispatcher sent it to our on call plumber and our plumber contacted him. He told our plumber that his father lived in the home and that he had left the money on the counter to take care of the service call. He instructed our plumber to call him when he arrived to the house and he would get on the phone with his dad and tell him that he was taking care of everything. When our plumber arrived to the house, he contacted the "son" and knocked on the door while the "son" was still on the phone. He identified himself to the elderly gentleman and gave him the phone to talk to his "son". As soon as the elderly gentleman got on the phone, the "son" immediately changed and identified himself as Mr. Jackson with Publishers Clearing House, and told the elderly gentleman that he had been trying to contact him to send his award package to his house but that someone had made the elderly gentleman change his phone number and he hadn't been able to contact him. He was demanding that the elderly gentleman hang up and call him back from his phone so that he would have his new number. The elderly gentleman's daughter got on the phone and hung up on him. He tried to call back but it went to our answering service and he identified himself as the elderly gentleman. He then started calling our dispatchers phone over and over cussing her out in another language until she finally blocked him. Our dispatch software records the calls made by our techs through our ipads. I am unable to attach the recordings because they are mp3, but they are available if you need them. The calls do identify the elderly gentleman by name and address.

The CEO Andrew Goldberg of publishers clearing House called me. Spelled Goldberg wrong… I knew it was a scam from the beginning but went along… I had won 3.5 million, A Cadillac Escalade cherry red and $7000 for the rest of my life each week. All I had to do was keep this a secret and surprise my husband. He wanted to stay with me the whole time on my cell phone. I told him I did not have one because he called me on my landline. I told him I would get my husbands.

But after it was taking so long he told me to go without the cell phone and he would give me instructions on what to do. I was to purchase two prepaid warm visa vanilla cards for $500 each. When I return home he was to call me or I was to call him and then he would give me further instructions on how to go to Western Union and pick up my $7000. Then after all this was done Steve Harvey and two other name people were coming to my house to award me the 3.5 million and the red Cadillac.

I called the FBI and they said until they have several complaints about this number they won’t investigate. I called the local news station here and they forwarded me this website to fill out this information. I intend to go to the dollar store and other stores here that sell prepaid visas in town in Caldwell Texas to notify them anyone purchasing visa cards to at least say something just in case somebody’s doing this and don’t know better. I played the game hoping that I could figure out something and would love to have these people caught. Waiting on my call. Hope you can get this out. Thank you

I received a text message 11/25/2020 saying I won a prize. I had a feeling this could be a scam because there were some typo-errors like 'are' for "or" and "my" for "may". So I talked to a guy name Tony Whiteside (but the guy has an India or indian accent) he said I won 3.5 m dollars, a brand new Lincoln Continental plus $5000.00 a month for life. He instructed me to go to Wallgreens that very minute a buy a certain card and put $600.00 on it and hold on to the card. I told him I don't have the money and he insisted I send the money thru my bank to them. I told I can't so he said he'll talk to Dave Sayer. I've seen Dave Sayer on tv and heard his voice. This guy is another Indian guy trying to disguise his voice. I gave up. They're still calling me but I not answering. I called ScamPulse.com and they said if I won something I shouldn't have to pay anything.

James Bell badge no. 6601JB, from the Better Business Bureau called me today saying I had won $6.5 million and an SUV in the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes. He said I needed to pay an insurance fee on the money. He told me to mail a money order for $838 to Vera Green at 34 N Keytstone, Upper Darby, PA 19082. He asked if I lived alone, if I wanted to keep it private, and what I would do with the money. He mentioned prayers, blessings and God. He said three people: Robert Hill, Susan White, and John Jackson, would be coming to my door on December 7th. I could hear a lot of noise in the background. He said a lot of people work here at PCH. He said I would get $500,000 on April 15th in the Set for Life promotion. He asked if I was properly dressed, because he wanted me to turn the camera on my computer so he could see me. He told me I could buy the money order at the post office, walmart or walgreens. I said I had friends at the post office. He told me not to tell them where I was sending the money. He's been calling all morning. He has a slight accent, but sounds more American than others. He kept calling me "Sweetie". He said he was a different Publisher's Clearing House than the one in NY. He didn't want me to check it out. I said you never have to pay to win that's what eveybody says. He said people don't know what they're talking about, and to trust him. He said the check would be written against Bank of America and the insurance was through Allstate. He said he was calling from Jamaica, FL.

Gentlemen called by the name of Peter Anderson. He said that he randomly picked my phone number and asked if I’d like to have 2.5 million dollars, plus a new GMC pickup truck. He stated that the prize patrol was in Waynesburg, Kentucky. All I had to do was go to the General Dollar Store and purchase a $125 card to ok my winnings. He eventually brought the price down to $25. He was very persistent and nice, but I knew it had to be a scam. He begged me to find a ride to the store once he realized I was elderly and couldn’t drive. He asked lots of personal questions, and that’s when I hung up.

I got a call from Michael Freeman. He said he worked for UPS. He said I had won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. He said I won $1.8 million and a new Mercedes Benz. He said he'd been trying to deliver it to me but hasn't been able to. He said he would deliver the money to me in a couple of hours. I asked where he was, and he answered California. He gave me a claim number, package number and badge number. He asked if I was married. He asked whether I wanted it to be public or confidential. He asked for my mom's and dad's names, which I gave him. I told him where I banked, then he said he needed my bank account and routing numbers, which I didn't give him. He had an accent.

A James Collins called me saying he was with the Publisher's Clearing House and that I had won 18.5 million dollars. He was trying to get me to buy prepaid Visa gift cards and give them the number in order to receive my reward. That's when I knew it was a scam.

They said that he won money but they wanted him to get a visa card for taxes

said publishers clearinghouse sent me notification in the mail and i didnt respond to it and wanted to know why i didnt respond. Told them i didnt know there was anything like that from them. David Wade is the mans name and claims he works for Consumer Protection Agency in New York, NY. Also gave me a claim number. I had to call a different number to find out what i needed to do which i called and it was Publishers Clearinghouse but then they told me that my $1.5 million check was sent to Brinks Security in New York because i didnt send the notification form back. In the meantime Brinks Security (supposedly) called me and said i had to pay $998 which is refundable so they could get the check to my state. All federal and state taxes were paid out of the 1.5 mil check. They said when they delivered the check to my house i would receive 2 checks. 1 for $1.5 million and 1 for $998.

Very elaborate presentation and very believable Said I had won a prize and then went through a presentation about getting verified and the final thing to get my winning confirmation numbers I needed to go to Walmart and buy a onevanilla gift card for two hundred dollars to get my numbers and validation from the IRS.

Today I received a call from a man claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. Hi phone number was 855-202-2461. He indicated I had won $2.5 million dollars and wanted to know my bank account number so they could wire the money. I said "that doesn't sound legitimate" and he hung up. Obviously a scam.

I received a call from a man with a heavy accent claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House, stating I had won 2.5 million dollars, a brand new 2020 Mercedes, and $1000 a week for life. He then asked me how I felt to have won, to which I questioned the validity of the call. He asked me to grab a pen and paper to write down his "badge number" and my "confirmation number". He then reiterated all of the winnings, gave me his name, Mr. Jim White, his badge number 1130USA, and a confirmation number. At this point I had looked up the area code of the call and found it was from Jamaica. When I asked him why his area code was from Jamaica, and what website could I visit to verify his ID. He hung up. I called back, and asked how to verify his info, he ask me to go to a CVS and make purchases to verify our prizes, at which point we called him out as a scammer, he told us F you, and hung up again.

I received a call from an Albert Johnson claimed that I won a life time prize including a Mercedes Benz and he would come to my residence with his driver. They would escort me to the bank and give me the check and I would give the driver $497 as his reward. I played along for a while sayin g that I had to wait for my bodyguard to come before I meet with him. I I finally told him that his time as a scammer is coming to an end because he has people looking for him who will do unprintable things to him and his family. Turning the tables on him unnerves him.
I write and lecture on scams.

Scammer called and claimed I won $3.5 million, $7000/week for life, and a new car. He knew my name and address. He wanted me to stay on the line as he gave instructions to go to a Dollar General and complete a $500 registration. He claimed I would then be able to pick up $7000 at the bank in Walmart. I hung up.

He called and said he was from publisher's clearing house. He then asked if I had ever entered that sweepstakes. I said yes and he asked me the name that I used to sign up. At first I gave him the name of my dead grandfather. He said that he was calling to let me know I had won a large sum of money. He then started asking questions like how do deal about becoming a winner of the sweepstakes? Good I told him. After a couple more like that he asked for the pronunciation of my name. So this time I made up a completely different fake name. He put me on hold, then he came back and said he had an important fax come in he had to deal with and instead of keeping me on hold for a long time he would hang up and call me back. When he called me back he said that it was 5.9 million dollars that I had won. He then started up with the fake interview questions again " what are you planning to do with the money?" "This is enough money you will never have to work again!" He then asked me who I banked with. I told him the bank name and he must have figured a little about where I am from the area code and he started naming some of the branches open in the town I was in. Then he asked me if I had ever used a gift card before. I said yeah, Amazon. "For how much?" $5. He then switched back to my bank account. "How much money is available in your count today?" I say - not very much, tomorrow is pay day for me and I am pretty broke right now. He then asked my job. I told him I was on disability. He then says "You know that after winning this money you will not be eligible to collect social security anymore. (Which I believe is true because that is a need based program, if I actually had 5.9 million dollars I would have no need for the help anymore. So now he asks me if I had anyone in my life that would loan me $1,000 if I needed it, my parents maybe. I told him yeah, my parents would loan me that much if I needed it. He says we'll you will be able to pay them back twice that after the money is available for you to withdraw. He then asked me how long it would take to get that. I was in my car and had told him that already so I told him it would take me an hour to get back home and get that. He then said something really strange. He asked if I could lie to my parents about what I needed the money for, saying that my business is my business and that theirs is theirs. Then saying "and I want it to be a surprise when you have twice their money back and you can tell them you won 5.9 million. Then fake questions again "how will your parents feel knowing their son is a millionaire? So he tells me he will call back in an hour after I get that money. While waiting I pick my wife up from work and tell her the whole scheme and what he has been saying to me. She immediately points out it's a scam and I agree with her. I tell her he's calling back soon and we come up with this. When he calls back and asks if I have the money yet I told him I didn't have to borrow it from my parents because my wife had just cashed her check and she gave me the money. She wants to talk to you really quick though and I hand her the phone. He gets on with her and says "how does it feel to know that he just won 5.9 million dollars? You can both retire now! So my wife says " look we are not stupid we know this is a scam, next you'll be asking for his bank information and account number so you can steal it. He says " no we are not a scam, I am not asking for any personal information from him. So see, he is protected this is all good. Ok, so how do we get the 5.9 mill then. "Have you ever used gift cards?" He asks, " He needs to take the $1,000 you gave him and buy a gift card. We will use this gift card to prove that he has the capability to withdraw a large amount of money. We want to be sure that he can take the funds out of the bank as soon as it is available today....... "Ok, well we're not doing that so goodbye." Then hung up on him. One of the things that helped us spot it was no good was how he didn't want me to tell my parents the truth about why I needed the money, wanting it to be a surprise for them to find out I was rich!!
