Was contacted by Protingent hiring manager regarding a remote job listing I had expressed interest in. I underwent an “interview” ie respond to questions in a word document and was then made a job offer. Part of the job offer was that due to problems in the past with the HR department sending office equipment, they would send me a check to deposit and then buy the equipment myself from a specific vendor they used via wire transfer. Then the equipment would be shipped directly to me and the IT department would help me set up my at home office. Initially the wire transfer would not go through to the first HR account so they sent me a second HR account to wire it to. When that didn’t work, I then put down a portion via Zelle and had my bank complete the wire transfer the next day. By then, the check from them that I had deposited online had bounced and they had access to my bank account. All communications that were on letterheads included all company information that you’d find in a standard letterhead.
