A person who called himself Richard Nonelle called my home phone and left a message. He claimed to represent a stump grinding business and said I owed him $1100 for stump grinding work on my property. I own 18 acres with two rent houses in Dallas NC. He claims he did this work just three days before he called in October this year. My property is on the open market for sale and he said I wouldn’t be able to sell my property unless I paid him because he was placing a Lein on my property. My property is fenced and has two renters of which neither knows this person and states this person nor anyone has been on my property doing stump grinding work. When I told him this he became very berating to me on the phone. I’m 80 years old and he seemed to be trying to intimidate me into paying him. I hung up the phone. 4 days later I receive a fake certified mailing from this person demanding me to pay him $1100. This person seems to be looking for land that is on the market for sale and targeting the owners by saying he will place a Lein on the property for the work he claims he did. The owners may fall for it because they think they can’t sell unless they pay him. Fortunately my realtor informed me he could not file the Lein and collect unless he had a signed contract with me, which I never signed anything with this person. I’m afraid this person will forge my name on a contract and try to use it in a filing. The public needs to be aware.

Call stating that a lien issued on the property and officer was to report to the house for us to sign documents. And failure to contact office will result in additional legal action without notification. Gave both my wife and myself name and address of the property.
