Photoshoot Deposit Reports & Reviews (1)

- Long Island City, NY, USA • Feb 24, 2025

Two weeks ago, I contacted a photographer in New York to document an event scheduled in April. Our contacts were by email only. We agreed to my budget of $800 for two hours of the intended photoshoot.

The photographer, Galina Ivankovich (Galina Ivankovich, Photographer & Videographer, GIU Production, (203) 952 0406, www.giuproduction.com), sent me a contract that I signed on February 12 and instructions on where to send the deposit of 50% ($400). She instructed me to use Zelle only. I transferred $400 on February 14. Once the money was gone, she sent another communication telling me that the agreed $800 did not include a tax of $128. The total was going to be $928. I told her that I could only pay $800 and that if the price were higher, she would have to return the deposit. She refused. That’s when I realized it was a scam. I wrote to her but did not hear back.

Later, I noticed that in the contract, a different name, last name, and company name were used (Alena Nazarova, N.A.S. consult, Inc. (646) 620-7006, (203) 952-0406, 618 Coney Island Ave, Brooklyn NY 11218, [email protected]). It appears that Galina Ivankovich is not legally in the country and is working with a Brooklyn-based accomplice.
