After purchasing a new car from a Faulkner dealership that did not qualify for the low incentive rate available for other vehicle types, I received a mailer from AUTOPAY. I explored a bit on the internet to get a feel if the company was legitimate and it seemed recognized as a functioning company that is used by people to get automobile loans so I called. I understood the rate I was “approved for” to be the 5.4% on the mailer. The agent collected a lot of my information, and my wife’s, as is common to authorize a loan. Then yesterday he called to say he’s still looking for a good rate for me and the best he’s found so far is 7%. My current rate is 6.84%. i reminded him of the mailer to which he responded that the rate isn't available among the lending institutions in their network

Now I am worried about whether I fell for a scam and the company is not really legitimate, or if I fell for a bait and switch from a business that undertakes unethical business practices.
