I was put into a group chat with random numbers with the message that I have an outstanding traffic ticket. I reported it as scam and deleted the conversation. I did not click any links or respond but other people would definitely fall for this scam (especially the elderly or mentally handicapped) as the link portrays a similar address to the MVC

Presented themselves as New Jersey MVC for New Jersey Motor Vehicle Code D508-12.083. I believe this not a real law. Told me to pay July 25, today is July 24.

They said “New Jersey MVC Final Notice: Enforcement will begin July 26.

Our records show that as of today, you still have an outstanding traffic ticket. Per New Jersey Motor Vehicle Code D508-12.083, if you do not pay by July 25, 2025, we will take the following actions:

1. Report to MVC violation database

2. Suspend your vehicle registration effective July 26

3. Suspend driving privileges for 30 days

4. Go to toll booth and be charged a 40% service fee

5. You may be prosecuted and your credit score will be affected
