I received a phone call claiming that I was being pursued by Discover card for an unpaid balance. The person said she was authorized to mediate a settlement with me. I asked a lot of questions and she proceeded to get very aggressive and threatened litigation no less than 10 times. They apparently BOUGHT my information off the Dark Web and used it so blackmail me into giving them money. I immediately FROZE all of my credit reports, reported all of my cards lost/stolen and started filing reports with every government agency I could think of that handles this kind of stuff. I even called Discover to see if I was in their system (since they have their own collections dept and those things are handled in house) They said they hadn't ever heard of these people. I NEVER confirmed or denied any information. If these people call you and tell you that a creditor is about to sue you, hang up and report them. BLOCK them or you will regret is just like I do.
