I placed my resume online via Indeed.com, and shortly after received an email from Michelle Sanchez. The email was basically telling me I had the job, all I needed to do was complete a background check via AttentiveBackCheck.com. The email, on the surface seems very convincing, but, once I reread everything, I was aware that it was too good to be true! The email sent to me used two different company names, Best Buy, and Oasis. Could have been an honest mistake, only it wasn't! Still investigating, I go to the AttentiveBackCheck website to poke around a little, and find that the website claims to run background checks for both Best Buy and Oasis, and they wanted me to pay $15 for the background check. After a little more investigating, I found that I was not the only person who had experienced this. There were more people speaking of similar emails, and one person said they even called the number from the email, and the person on the other end answered "Best Buy." But, being smart, she calls another Best Buy store, and they were able to confirm that they do not charge potential employees for background checks.
