I saw this email in my Spam folder and then looked it up on Google to check validity. I saw a similar claim for the same company on ScamPulse.com come up. Here is what the email says:

Hi,

We are pleased to inform you that you are currently being considered for the Remote Data Entry Specialist position with Merit Properties Group, LP.

This is a full-time remote opportunity with a starting pay rate of $30.00 per hour. Based on your background and qualifications, we believe you could be a valuable addition to our team.

Please reply to this message to confirm your interest. Once we receive your response, we will provide you with the Job description for you to go through and confirm if this is a great fit for you.

We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your interest in joining Merit Properties Group, LP.

This incident was related to the file complaint I had with BL PROPERTIES GROUP LLC under the name John Mendoza. Even though this has a different name Michael Barreto, and company name Merit Properties Group, LP - I think they are related because they sent me the same offers and at the same time. The offer in the email is almost identical and the website in their company is almost the same. It's worth checking to, and to be aware that they might be using different names under one group of scammers.

The scammer sent the following email:

On behalf of Merit Properties Group, LP, we are delighted to formally extend an offer of employment for the Data Entry Specialist role.

After reviewing your completed interview assessment, we are confident that you will bring to the company a vast amount of experience.

Attached to this email is your onboarding packet which includes your official offer letter and necessary onboarding documentation. Your supervisor has been included in this correspondence to guide you through the initial setup and training.

Please review the attachments, sign the required pages, and send them back to us with a valid form of identification.

I made my résumé searchable on CALJOBS on August 5, 2026. The next morning I received an unsolicited email offering a Remote Data Entry Specialist position paying $30/hour from 'Michael Barreto' at Merit Properties Group, LP. The email asked me to reply to confirm my interest before providing a job description. I did not respond after finding similar reports on ScamPulse.com Scam Tracker.

I searched for the name and the business, and the first thing that popped up was a ScamPulse.com complaint filed just this week. They received a similar email but DID give them money.

I recently had to file with CalJOBS yesterday, and I think that's how they got my information.
