Scammer offered to pay me $500 as a "secret shopper". They sent a check in the amount of $3,050 instructing me to deposit the check into my account "using the ATM or mobile app", and purchase 5/$500 gift cards to be sent to them, this immediately aroused my suspicion. I spoke with a bank representative whom confirmed it was more than likely a scam. The next time the scammer contacted me, I informed them that my banker advised me of this type of scam so please DO NOT contact me again and I plan to report my suspicions.

they sent me a priority mail with a check for $2040.00 from a Henkels & McCoy inc. *** ***** **** **** **** ** *****. from bank of Central Pacific Bank, P.O. Box 3590 Honolulu, Hawaii 96811. and a letter stating it was customer service evaluation tool, wanting me to choose 1 store they had listed on the letter and to then deposit the check to my account, and to then go to one of the stores they listed and purchase 3 American express gift cards for $500 each . after purchasing them, capture image of card front and back. and not to discard them as they wil be used for forthcoming assignments. and keep the remaining 500 for payment on survey. then to complete a report and email to [email protected] then text 909 845 8481 immediately to show your assignment has been completed. felt uncomfortable doing this so did not comply but checked to see if scam or not. I contacted the bank on the check and they verified it was not their check.
