As stated by another person Malibu Boutique represents their business as United States. They used Fires in CA to tell a sad story about why the boutique is closing. There’s no actual boutique and the clothes and the company is in China. They fraudulently misrepresent themselves and a company in the United States. The product is NOT quality and thinking like what is shown online. It’s not boutique quality, it is cheap material and nothing like the photos. Every communication is done via email. They told me I could return the items (nothing fit and it was NOT the same quality as shown), however I’d have to pay shipping back to China. I shipped everything back to China at a cost of $100, the package has been stuck somewhere in the Chinese postal system since March 27, 2025.

Malibu Boutique poses as a CA-based company, using the Malibu Wildfires as an excuse to lure people in to take advantage of “closing sales”. In reality the company is based in China, and sells extremely low-quality clothing that is falling apart, see-through and worth 5% of what they’re scamming people for. I hope others see this and do not fall for this as I did.

Malibu Boutique represents their business as United States. They used Fires in CA to tell a sad story about why the boutique is closing. Turns out, there’s no actual boutique and the clothes and the company is in China. They fraudulently misrepresent themselves and a company in the United States. The product is NOT quality and thinking like what is shown online. It’s not boutique quality, it is cheap material and nothing like the photos. There’s no phone # for this company and every communication is done via email. They told me I could return the items (nothing fit and it was NOT the same quality as shown), however I’d have to pay shipping back to China. I thought I was supporting a company in the United States experiencing a hardship. I’ve noticed multiple companies with similar stories on Facebook advertising as being in the US but they are all in China. How do we stop scams such as these?

This company posted an ad in Facebook claiming that after being part of the Malibu community for years they are closing their doors because their store burned down in the Malibu fires in 2025. Their claim is that they are clearing out their inventory in a limited time only sale. I ordered a dress which was $69.95 supposedly marked down from $200+. It arrived a week later but was too small. The sizing chart was in not accurate or complete. It didn’t have waist measurements. I emailed them to ask to return the dress. We went back and forth several times of them offering me discounts to get me to keep the dress. Each email had a different offer. First it was for me to order a second item, keep the dress and pay $10 for delivery. I just wanted my $76 back. Then ther offered 10% refund then 25%. They finally gave me the return address which is in China with the caveat that packages are sometimes delayed or lost and the refunds take a long time. I asked for a full refund because of fraudulent business practice by false advertising. I am waiting to hear back. I don’t want to spend more money sending it back and risk not getting a refund and having not dress. I will try to gift it. The dress is of average quality, certainly not worth the $200+ supposed original price.

These criminals pretended that they were women shop owners who lost their business in the Malibu/Pacific Palisades fires in Los Angeles. They had a photo on the website of their burned store, and even asked for an optional donation at the end of purchase to help them as they retired! The items were never mailed from Malibu or CA, but appeared to coming from China. They used GOFO Express shipping and the package in the US came from 5215 S. Boyle Ave, Vernon, CA 90058.

The item sent was of extremely poor quality and is not the same style as the photo on the website. I have been emailing them repeatedly and they are not refunding me, nor permitting me to send the item back for a full refund. This is a terrible SCAM that is trying to exploit the tragedy of the LA fires.
